Candidate Profiles
Vice Chair
Carol Comito
I have been a member of the LGBT caucus for the past two years. This past year I served on the membership committee. I have been involved with the LGBT community here in AZ for the past 7 years. I served on the 1n10 LGBT Youth Board for three and a half years, and for the last 6 years on the Ubiquity Board, ASU’s LGBT staff and faculty organization. I worked closely with Equality Arizona to obtain Domestic Partner Benefits for state employees.
These are just some of the things I have done to work with the community to improve the quality of life for all LGBT persons. I am currently serving as the Chair of the District 8 Democrats for Scottsdale/Fountain Hills, so the party, as a whole, is very important to me as well.
I believe all of these experiences, and my interest in improving our community make me a good candidate for the position of Vice-chair for the LBGT Democratic caucus. I appreciate your support, and hope you will vote for me.
Respectfully,
Carol Comito
Treasurer
Kristin Gwinn
I became involved with Arizona politics when I joined the Arizonans for Obama grassroots effort in February 2007. I then joined the campaign staff as Obama’s statewide volunteer coordinator in the Arizona primary and went on to work for the campaign in five other states. Since the 2008 election, I have volunteered extensively with both the Maricopa County and State parties, helping to launch MCDP’s PC Plus program and regularly providing district level trainings.
I am also a long time ally to the LGBT community and have not only volunteered with Marriage Equality San Diego and Equality California, but previously worked as a mental health counselor specializing in serving the LGBT community, particularly teens and their families.
As a former statewide campaign manager, I am experienced and well acquainted with the finance laws and electronic filing procedures involved with political committees and have been actively involved with fundraising and budget management in multiple campaigns. I would be proud to serve the LGBT caucus as your treasurer.
