What can I do to help?
Dear LGBT Caucus Members:
It seems that everywhere you turn today, people are talking about Arizona. The extremist values of the Republican Party have pushed our state into the national spotlight for all the wrong reasons. As Democrats we know that it’s up to us to reclaim our state’s proud heritage and restore its integrity for our future generations.
What can I do to help?
Become a true leader and represent the voice of your community. The Arizona Democratic Party is asking you to become a Precinct Committeeperson. Be part of the groundswell of proud Democrats, ready to take a stand and defend our state. Those who do not participate cannot expect their voices to be heard.
True change in Government starts from the most unlikely office in politics.
Did you know that the State of Arizona recognizes Precinct Committeepersons as elected representatives of their political party? Every day, Arizonans from across the state are taking part in the political process as Democratic Precinct Committeepersons. Like you, they are regular people with a job (sometimes two). They have families, hobbies, and interests. One thing that separates them from the rest, however, is their true passion for change in Arizona. Collectively, they represent every region of our state and every community, making the Democratic Party a powerful organizational force. To get unique access to the Democratic Party and be a part of change for Arizona, all you have to do is step up and introduce yourself. It’s that easy. I’m ready, let’s do it!
Do I meet the qualifications?
To be a Democratic Precinct Committeeperson, you have to be a registered Democrat. To qualify, you must care passionately about your community and want to help get Democrats elected. That’s it! It’s that simple.
What do I have to do?
First, you have to be willing to meet other Democrats in your area and let them know you’re interested in representing your community or neighborhood. If you think you’re the only Democrat or don’t know any others in your area, don’t worry, we can help with that. You have to do this soon, as the deadline for new Precinct Committeepersons is May 26. Click here to get started.
Once officially a Democratic Precinct Committeeperson, you will be a representative of the Democratic Party. You will start receiving invitations to local Democratic Party meetings. Generally they occur every month. Your way to the center of political circles begin there. Statewide meetings occur quarterly. At your meetings you will meet candidates and elected officials, talk about the politics that concern your community, and most importantly organize ways to get out the vote and elect Democrats. Step up today!
